Planeswalker Report
Hayden here, and I'm starting a new segment, which I've tentatively titled the "Planeswalker Report," in which I'll examine the current cost of Magic the Gathering Planeswalker cards (generally from sites around the internet). Ultimately, I'd like to be able to establish trends for the savvy collector, so here goes nothing:
#1: Jace, the Mind Sculptor
No surprise here, JtMS remains the top Planeswalker in terms of average cost.
Current Value: $65.27 Trending Down with a low end cost of around $41 (EBay)
#2: Liliana of the Veil
While I'm not surprised that LotV is high now, I don't expect this price to last long (despite a current upward trend). What's surprising about Liliana at the moment is the wild diversity in price. Some sites had her listed at almost $60, while others as low as $40. How high will she go before she peaks?
Current Value: $48.31 Trending Up with a low cost of $35 (EBay) and a high of $59 (MTGFanatic)
#3: Jace, Memory Adept
JMA continues to hold its value (surprisingly) considering (in my opinion) its rather limited scope of use.
Current Value: $31.73 Trending Steady with a low cost of $20 (EBay).
#4: Garruk, Primal Hunter
The primal hunter continues to trend downward, though not as quickly as the falls of Gideon Jura and Chandra, the Firebrand.
Current Value: $25.97 Trending Down with a low cost of $20 (Troll and Toad)
#5: Garruk Relentless///Garruk, the Veil-Cursed
The new double sided version of Garruk has already enjoyed several jumps and dips, and that was all prior to the Innistrad release.
Current Value: $25.31 Trending Down with a low cost of less then $20 (EBay)
#6: Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas $24.98 Trending Down with a lost cost of $18.99 (EBay)
#7: Koth of the Hammer $24.88 Trending Steady with a low cost of $14.99 (EBay)
#8: Chandra, the Firebrand $21.64 Trending Down with a low cost of $11.68 (EBay)
#9: Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker $20.81/(Duel Deck Version) $15.31 Trending Down with a low cost of $12.99 (Troll and Toad)/(Duel Deck Version) $9.35 (EBay)

Perhaps you've noticed what I did about the Planeswalker market as a whole, its dropping steadily. With the exception of the of the two new Planeswalkers from Innistrad, which are enjoying the usual new release boom, all of the Planeswalkers are dropping, even the budget options. Jace Berelen is about the only Planeswalker enjoying anysort of a real upward trend, and is getting close to cracking the top 10. As an avid collector of Planeswalkers, I am very disappointed with this overall downward trend, especially when just a couple months ago Planeswalkers were booming.

A return to Ravnica?
Here is some interesting speculation concerning the upcoming "Hook, Line and Sinker" block, which will follow Innistrad.
I don't like to put too much stock in discussion board rumblings, but I will say this: MTGSalvation has a pretty solid track record when it comes to speculation, and this post is from one of their moderators, not just some random poster.
Jace Berelen is from the plane of Ravnica, and in terms of storylines, Jace's is far from finished. Plus, Wizards has got to be encouraged by the success of the return to Mirrodin in Scars, so why not? I for one loved Ravnica, its the set that brought me back into Magic after what I considered to be several disappointing releases. I'll be keeping a close eye on this situation, so expect more on this soon. Cheers.

Premium Deck Series: Graveborn
Well this looks exciting. I actually did buy one of the Premium Deck Series: Slivers, and it was alright, but the Premium Deck Series lost me with Fire and Lightning. This deck however looks very interesting. The expansion symbol will be:
And here's a little sneak peak at some of the cards that will be included:
"Legions of corpses await your sinister commands. This 60-card, all-foil deck entombs, exhumes, and reanimates some of the most powerful Magic creatures from all five colors of mana. Harvest your graveyard for an assortment of these face-beaters as you walk over a field of bones to claim your victory."
I think its safe to say we'll see a new printing of Entomb in this deck. This is the kind of thing we need more of from Wizards of the Coast. Cheers.

Finally, a system from Wizards of the Coast I can get on board with. Hayden here, and I have to say, that I'm impressed that Wizards is at least making an effort to include casual players in their ranking system. I'm sure most of us who play more casual then competative Magic have a DCI-friendly shop where we hang out, and now, under the new Planeswalker Points system, we can recieve ranking points for all that casual play. Cool right?

Thoughts from the Wanderer
Hayden here, I've been gone for awhile, and all of the sudden, Innistrad is upon us! I'll have some reviews, deck ideas and other thoughts in the days to come. For now, I have but one thought: finally, magic is beginning to give us products outside of booster packs that interest me (Koth vs Venser duel deck, the Premium Deck Series: Graveborn). More to follow.
