Classic Reprint: The Cheese Stands Alone

Before there was Barren Glory, we had The Cheese Stands Alone (from Unglued).

The Cheese Stands Alone

One of our unspoken house rules was that no one was permitted to use any cards from Unglued or Unhinged that were too ridiculous. I don't think I need to mention any specifics, lets just say The Cheese Stands Alone wasn't one of them (and Seht's win with said card would later be fully legitimized years later when Barren Glory was printed).

In any event, the game was a six player free for all, featuring Kei, Sorin, Seht, Barron, Toshiro and myself. Now, when it comes to games with five or more players, things begin to slow down, a lot. This was the only way Seht's combo could have developed. We were all aware that he was sporting The Cheese Stands Alone, but none of us had any idea how to even pull off such a win.

Seht defended himself with Mind Over Matter whle the rest of us struggled against each other. As I'm sure you can guess, Seht eventually won, and heres how he did it; he discarded all but two cards using Mind Over Matter, tapped all his lands and filled his mana pool, sacrificed his Mind Over Matter to Claws of Gix, cast Jokulhaups, and used the remaining mana in his pool to play his last card, The Cheese Stands Alone FTW.
