Yet Another Justification of Mythic Rares at ManaNation

Fungibility, Mythics and Trading

Hayden here, wouldn't you know it, this latest piece was written by the same guy who tried to justify Mythic Rares at ManaNation before.

This time he claims:
"In my last article, I addressed (and, I hope, dispelled) the popular myth that mythic rares make constructed decks more expensive. Instead, I argued that the real problem with mythics is that they make it more difficult to trade for the cards you need. The lack of trade fungibility makes it challenging to acquire cards using the rares you have picked up from drafts, cracking packs, and the like. In the long run, this means that unless you are a savvy trader, you are going to be spending more money—despite the decks costing the same amount—to play constructed Magic."

This guy keeps building Straw Men and knocking out of the park doesn't he? What is the real problem with Mythic Rares? The fact that some of them are worth less then a couple bucks, and the fact that "limited availabilty" of such cards and the outragious demand for them vastly inflates some of the better ones values. After they drop out of standard, there goes the demand and there goes the value. How does this do any Legacy or Vintage style player any good? How does this do collectors any good? Anyway, check out the rest of the piece for the outragious trades this guy proposes. Cheers.
